Obtaining a Quote and Starting the Job

  1. Price Quote - Before anything begins, we have to get a detailed idea of how much will need to be done to satisfy your website development needs. We ask that you attempt to put together a site outline/sitemap that will show the full structure of the site you envision. Most sites will usually consist of a Home Page and any number of sections and subpages. Additional options can include messageboard forums, e-commerce webstores, mailing lists, and back-end database development to provide content for the site and/or to gather information submitted by end-users on the site. Before we can determine what your costs will be, we have to determine how much we will have to develop, and then we can go over all the options available to you to make sure you can maximize the potential of your web presence within the budget you have available. So please begin by taking the time to fill out our Website Design Quote Form.
  2. After you receive a quote from us, should you decide you wish to enter a contract with us to handle your website design, we will need to receive a 50% deposit on the total project cost upfront to begin work. To begin any job, you must first choose the service(s) agreed upon in your quote on our Order Website Design Services page, enter the amounts as detailed in your quote and make your initial payment via PayPal.
  3. Once we receive your deposit, we will begin work on designing your site. Our site developer will contact you to request that you send us your full site content to the extent that you are able. That will include the full text you'd like to fill all pages that you detailed in the site outline you provided in step one, all graphics files that you already have that will be used (logos, photos, style elements, etc), and your ideas on your vision for how your site should look. If you'd prefer for us to work from a blank slate and see what we come up with for the look of your site, we can do it that way as well. You can have whatever degree of involvement in the process that you feel comfortable with to ensure you will be happy with the end result.

The Site Development Process

At Three Sages Productions we consider it very important for your site development to follow a structured, logical process with a level of involvement with the customer every step of the way to make sure that you are getting exactly what you want from your website. The work process will be a six-step methodology for delivering the web solution. The six step process includes the following for the development of a high end, database driven website, and cutting edge web application featuring whatever level of functionality outlined in this proposal that you wish to include:

I. Preliminary Research and Discovery Phase:

A. Gathering all the specifications of the project.
B. Establishing the strategy to best accomplish the completion of your website within budget and time frame.

II. Establishing Hosting Solution:

A. Determining the technical needs and budgetary requirements for the hosting of your website.
B. Advising best options available according to your organization’s needs.
C. Creation of hosting service accounts for your website.

III. Server Side Development:

A. Installation and configuration of Drupal CMS and all required add-on modules within hosting account control panel, FTP and Drupal's admin area to provide full back-end administrative functionality.
B. Integration with MySQL database.
C. Five general organization e-mail addresses will be established.

IV. Web Design – Graphic Design Work:

A. Working with you to choose an overall theme for their website from thousands of free theme options available on the Drupal.org website or other locations.
B. Modifications to the chosen theme(s) in areas of color scheme, visual aesthetics, look of specific site elements, etc, as directed according to your wishes.
C. Assistance with all the graphic elements of the website either by our design or referral to third party graphics design companies as needed.

V. Content Programming:

A. Top quality coding (HTML / XHTML / CSS / JavaScript / PHP) of all the web pages needed on each website.
B. Advanced programming and integration of latest web technologies for enhanced user experience and usability. Examples would include E-commerce store system, Google Mapping, Events Calendars, Slideshow Effects, Flash based photo galleries, etc.

VI. Quality Assurance and Launch:

A. Extensive testing to ensure the website is bug free.
B. Fine tuning the final details of the application design and features.
C. Cross-browser testing to ensure full site compatibility with all popular browsers.
D. Testing visual appearance of website across multiple screen resolutions to ensure a quality experience for the maximum number of end-users.
E. Official launch of website after final approval is given, including submission of website URL to popular search engines, publicizing site, etc.

Additional Details

  1. After we have all the content you wish to include, we will develop a draft home page. It is during this phase that we will do everything required to create a dynamic custom visual appearance according to your vision for the site. We will work on the home page to get to a point where you are happy with the overall look. Once we receive your approval with that, we will then build all your sections and subpages keeping that basic visual appearance intact, making adjustments as needed based on the content involved, and according to your wishes if you'd like to have different looks for different areas of the site.
  2. For E-Commerce sites where you need us to input your full store inventory, we will need you to supply an Excel spreadsheet listing the following: Product Name, SKU Number, Product Description, Options (if any – size, color, etc), Prices, full shipping information, and product photos named in correspondence with the item on your spreadsheet file. Additionally, depending on the shopping cart system we use, we may ask that you send us the number of each item that you currently have in stock as well as a threshold point for the shopping cart system to notify you that you are running low on any item falling below that threshold number. We will work with you on establishing your payment system/gateway within the shopping cart and will ask for all needed information related to that as we get to that step.
  3. Upon completion of building your full site structure and filling all pages with your desired content, we may offer suggestions for additional features and functionality we can add that may be appealing to you and your site visitors, either keeping within the agreed upon final cost of the project, or for additional payment. We will not develop these additional features for your site without your prior approval.
  4. At the point we have the site fully developed to your satisfaction and you are ready for the site to "go live", we will have you send the remaining 50% payment signifying the completion of the job.

Once these steps are completed to your satisfaction, you will then have a live site and our contracted work will reach a conclusion. If you wish for us to handle your site maintenance from that point forward, we do offer that as an additional service. For more details about setting up an ongoing site maintenance contract, please visit our Website Maintenance page.

Turn-around Time

Turnaround time will naturally vary from project to project depending on your needs. But for basic websites with a small number of sections and subpages, we can usually take a site from beginning to completion within a week. For more complicated site structures, graphic design needs and greater functionality, plan on 2-3 weeks and add 1-2 days for each element of advanced functionality that will be included within each site. We generally work very well with deadlines and will strive to have your site fully operational according to your specifications as quickly as possible. E-mail lag time when we need to correspond with you can slow things down, but we can communicate by phone to avoid that with projects that are on a deadline. If your project has a firm deadline for completion, please be sure to indicate this on your Website Design Quote Form submission. Note that in some cases, a firm deadline that will be difficult for us to meet will result in an increase in your quoted project cost. We will make sure to note the price difference in our reply to your quote request to give you the option of paying more for the faster turnaround time, or paying less for completing the project at a more gradual pace. You will only be billed the additional amount if we do in fact meet your deadline requirement. If we do not meet your deadline for any reason, we will refund that additional portion of your price total. As project benchmarks are reached, invoices for those phases of development will be sent. Work will continue on subsequent phases of development while payment is pending, but will cease if payment for any submitted invoices are not received within a reasonable time period of two weeks.
